AMP General Secretary visits Baramati

AMP General Secretary visits Baramati - Maharashtra, meets up with the local AMP team.

Association of Muslim Professionals’ (AMP) Gen. Sec. Mr. Syed Najeeb earlier this month of September, 2017, visited Baramati, a town in Maharashtra and met up with the local AMP team and Community members to consolidate rapport with them as well as give an elaborate presentation about AMP and its activities to enlighten the newer members.

During the meeting, in the course of discussions, some alarming facts came out. One of these being the challenges for students of Urdu medium schools. These schools are run by Nagar Parishad and they do not provide facilities to conduct classes beyond 7th standard. Hence, the students need to travel out of town to continue their education beyond 7th. As such many of the students, especially girls, who are unable to travel to other places have to discontinue their education.

Some other social issues too came to the fore such as the increasing need for bigger burial spaces for the local Muslim population, which although not very large, is still a sizeable number and for which the locals are lobbying very hard.

In view of these challenges it was discussed about what all AMP activities should be carried out to extend the benefits to the local Community members.

The local Baramati team attending the meeting included Mr. Mansoor Shaikh, Editor and Publisher Baramati Times, Adv. Nasir Pathan, RTI Activist Mr.Riaz Momin and Mobile Engineer Mr. Azhar Momin. Mr. Zameer Inamadar who is also the President of NGO AKSS was unable to attend since he was out of town.

The members decided that based on this meeting they would further brainstorm within the local team and come up with a plan of action which will be communicated to the central team.

Regards,

TEAM AMP
