Skill Development Lectures

Objective:

Program Overview:

History has shownus repeatedly that individuals can bring about huge positive change in thesociety by seemingly insignificant acts. Teaching, Training and Guiding, underprivileged children is one such powerful acts that can go a long way inremoving illiteracy and solving many other problems in India.

 

Introduction:

Skill DevelopmentLectures (SDL) caters to students of right from primary till graduation. SDL isaccurately planned, content and speaker is strictly selected according to thetarget audience. For example for primary and secondary students, the topicscovered would be, Basics of computer, Motivation, Time management and Careerguidance etc. For graduates, topics would be introducing them to the world ofbusiness, organization and industries and limited business and economicconcepts. The program creates a context in which professionals engage withstudents about various options that are available to them in the working worldand how they can choose the career that suits them best. These professionalsare experienced volunteers from different industries who have extensiveknowledge about the industry and understand the qualities needed for succeedingin their area of work.

 

Methodology:

The volunteers,in a series of classroom sessions, undertake a variety of experientialactivities that help students appreciate the inter-relationship betweeneducation, work, individual and the environment ,understand issues ofprofessional ethics and conduct. Volunteers also serve as role model tostudents. Students understand the role of profession in the larger economic,business and social context.

 

The program usestools/techniques to expand student’s awareness about the various opportunitiesavailable. It helps them to analyze these opportunities and locate anopportunity that fits one’s particular, individual characteristics and developthe capabilities required; and finally make a decision.

 

This program aimsto enable the students to develop a constructive approach to the identificationand development of personal and professional key skills, and to improve theireffectiveness as learner throughout their careers.
